Transcultural Literacies wins the Literacy Research Association's Edward B. Fry Book Award!
We are thrilled to announce that Transcultural Literacies has been selected as the winner of the Literary Research Association Edward B. Fry Book Award in 2021!
The Edward B. Fry Book Award was established in in 1995 by it's namesake for the purpose of recognizing Literacy Research Association members authoring books that advance literary research and practice. The publication to receive the award must advance knowledge about literacy, display inquiry into literacy, and display responsible intellectual risk taking.
Transcultural Literacies, edited by Karen M. Magro and Michelle A. Honeyford, collects the perspectives of world-renowned educators to reflect on the impact of race, culture, and identity in the classroom. With an interdisciplinary approach, the editors and contributors investigate not only how teachers can design learning spaces to accommodate diverse students, but also how they can build literacy programs to complement and further develop the varied strengths, skills, and experiences of those students.
With those aims driving the editors, Transcultural Literacies is exemplary of the qualities the LRA was seeking in awarding this coveted title.
